Turn Kazakh letters into
their Russian analogs.
Instantly.
About the Transliterator
In memory
of the talented, wise teacher,
professional in her field
Muratkanova Amina Erzatkyzy.
This program was developed due to her tasks assigned to our group in her classes.
This project was made during a real practical task: while working in Autoplay Media Studio, we were asked to prepare an e-book application in Kazakh language. Once we tried to enter the text, the system began to display Kazakh symbols incorrectly, replacing them with question marks:
Numerous attempts to manually replace letters with Russian analogs took too much time and effort. Then I came up with an idea to create a tool that could perform transliteration automatically.
2018
The first version of the program was written in Python and showed excellent results. However, that format did not allow me to
distribute the application conveniently — to launch it, code required a compiler, or visiting sites like online IDE.
Therefore, it was decided to rewrite the project in JavaScript, to be able to simplify the usage by allowing to run the program right in the browser.
2019
A mobile phone version of the application was developed in partnership with Isoteric Studio (Moscow, Russia). For the first time, the code was rewritten in Java, an APK file became available for download.
2022
With the support of Alikhan Bokeikhan University (Semey, Kazakhstan) the project was submitted for obtaining an author's certificate as a "Transliterator Software".
2024
Record number of unique visits to the Transliterator website — 8,600 people per year.
The approach to the program's functionality in the new Android version has been redesigned, now it can remember all of your latest transliterations.
For the first time, in that version I implemented transliteration from Cyrillic to Latin, and vice versa.
2025
Cyrillic-Latin transliteration is now implemented on the website as well.
Use cases
Encodings
in applications
When working in any program, Kazakh letters in the text often turn into
question marks or any other glyphs.
We decided to fix the situation and created this Kazakh letter transliterating converter.
Fonts
without Kazakh
It can be frustrating when a font supports Cyrillic, but doesn't have the Kazakh glyphs too.
And the entire text is covered with rectangles.
To save your time and the font, you can simply replace these conflicting letters with Russian analogs through the converter.
Normalization
for table
Your favorite tool may be imperfect. For example, in alphabetical sorting. Or Kazakh
letters may cause the old program to crash.
Our converter will help maintain comfort — you will continue to use your familiar program and not
spend time learning new tools.
Advantages
